unstuffy support for you and your relationships

individual therapy

I specialize in working with clients who have been suffering from anxiety and are looking to find relief from the exhaustion and weight of it. Anxiety can present itself somatically (as physical expressions of nervous system activation) and cognitively (variations of uncontrollable thoughts) and even lead to panic attacks. Sometimes it looks like overwhelm, numbness, feeling frozen, or avoiding. No matter how it manifests for you, it's awful.

I also work closely with individuals struggling with self-esteem or underdeveloped feelings of self-competency and self-confidence. Relationship-with-self is central to all the work I do. Low feelings of self-worth often shows up in relationships with others. If you struggle with setting boundaries, feeling taken advantage of, or if you find yourself unsatisfied in relationships, therapy can help. Self-concept, self-esteem, and self-worth will be areas of exploration and a focus of growth to set you up for lasting success. With a combination of deep exploration and evidence-based modalities, growth happens. Read more about the modalities I use in my approach.

There is a version of future you that holds more self-compassion and feels more capable. With the ECHO scaffolding, we will explore entanglements, identify what is needed, and help you learn how to help future you feel lighter, more secure, and better able to move through challenges.

partnership therapy

Whether you are working through ongoing conflict or an acute issue, partnership therapy can help heal hurt, create shared understanding, and build communication and conflict management skills. The power of therapy to help heal and strengthen relationships cannot be overstated. I enjoy working with all types of relationships with all types of people. Whether you are in a conventional couple, or in a less traditional ENM, polyamory, throuple, or other relationship dynamic, I am celebratory of all love. Love can look different from partnership to partnership, but relationship challenges are universal. I am committed to helping partners build skills in navigating differences in lived experience that may show up, like race, gender, family-of-origin, ethnic or geographical culture, disability, or other identity differences that need support.

Partnership therapy starts with building a sense of safety, vulnerability, and trust that creates a container to say the hard things out loud and to build skills to work through the impact of difficult truths together. The end game is to feel seen and understood by your person in a way you've always wanted. It is so rewarding to see the dynamic of a partnership get to shift after vulnerability and honesty in our space leads to deepened intimacy.

We'll look at much more than just the challenges on the surface. We'll dig into your childhood family dynamics, attachment style, conflict style, and we'll bridge gaps in understanding. If you are interested in the types of modalities that inform my work within partnerships, check them out here. Strengthening your relationship starts with the belief that taking the first step into therapy can change everything.

family therapy

Families are complex and often complicated. If you experience conflict, miscommunications, or hurt from a family member (or members), you are - unfortunately - in good company. Most families experience turbulence but few seek support in mending ties.

Family therapy can help bridge misunderstandings, heal wounds, and build healthier family dynamics for lasting change. I have experience working with multigenerational families, from grandparents to kids as young as 5 in family therapy and I will do my absolute best to adjust the space to fit the individual needs of each person involved.

Whether it is ongoing challenges in a family relationship(s) or a specific transgression, therapy can be a uniquely supportive space to work through challenges and create intergenerational change. With this said, family therapy can be an uniquely challenging endeavor because it often involves individuals with differing value systems who have many years of history and, potentially, many years of hurt. Through thoughtful exploration of existing patterns and influential ruptures, we'll identify what is needed for healing and build conflict management skills to work through whatever comes up.

With an increased sense of connection and emotional intimacy in families, there is so much room opened up to learn healthy communication and conflict management skills to support independent repair skills outside of our therapy space. Family can be one of our greatest gifts in life and the hard work of healing is so worth the outcome.

insurance reimbursement

As an 'out-of-network' provider (OON) I am not able to bill your insurance directly, but I am able to provide superbills for you to submit to insurance for potential reimbursement. If your insurance plan has OON benefits for mental health services, you may be able to submit for partial reimbursement.

If you are not sure if your plan offers any mental health coverage for OON providers, I am happy to provide an outline of questions for you to ask insurance to understand your benefits. Just reach out and I'll send it your way.
